EMDR

Past and current trauma scars are deep internal wounds that can show up in different ways and make it difficult to get through our days.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can help work through things like past trauma, anxiety, or phobias, and it can make a difference in how you feel overall. EMDR is an evidence-based form of therapy that uses our understanding of neuroscience to change how our brain deals with traumatic memories and traumatic stress. It helps by reprocessing difficult memories or experiences and makes them less emotionally charged and overwhelming.

During sessions, you'll focus on those tricky memories where a lot of yuck is stuck in your body. Using bilateral stimulation (finger movements with your eyes, tapping, or listening to sounds that switch from side to side), we will reprocess your memories and find relief. The theory behind this evidence-based modality is that this helps your brain process the tough stuff in a way that makes it less upsetting.

As an EMDRIA trained therapist, I believe relief and healing is possible with EMDR. With the help of EMDR therapy, you may notice that your emotions, body, and brain can heal after years of feeling disconnected and distressed. You can find improvements in your relationship with yourself and others and a general sense of relief.

Healing is possible. Give EMDR a try!
